One week intensive course will be open to professional linguists who possess translation competence and would like to develop liaison/dialogue interpreting techniques, or already have some experience in the field and wish to consolidate it by a programme of formal systematic tuition, or already work as consecutive, business, court or community interpreters and wish to apply more advanced techniques and emergency strategies in their work environment.

You are warmly invited to attend the Careers in Translation and Interpreting Event for Graduates at Liverpool University. The event focuses on careers and employability, and is aimed at undergraduate university studentsfrom across the northwest region. This event would be highly beneficial to language students who are interested in knowing more about translation and interpreting, or considering either of these as a career path. We will host speakers from the European Commission, National Network for Interpreting, National Network for Translation, along with freelancers working in the government, film and publishing industries.

On 25 February 2015 from 1pm to 5.30pm, the University of Manchester will host a national careers event on behalf of the National Networks for Translation and Interpreting. A diverse employer panel will talk about the range of career options on offer in the professions and an alumni panel will share experiences and advice. We will also have a student panel who will give participants a feel for what it is really like to train as a translator, interpreter or subtitler. The panels will be followed by a chance to network and refuel before a choice of practical taster sessions with translation, interpreting and audiovisual translation lecturers.

The University of Westminster will be holding its annual Careers in Languages Day on 7 February 2015. Organised as part of the programme for the Capital L London Consortium and the National Networks for Translation and for Interpreting, this event will be of interest to anyone who would like to know more about working in translation, interpreting and related areas. You will be able to hear short talks by people who work as translators, interpret in Paris or Geneva, subtitle the latest DVDs, manage big translation projects, or revise and edit translations for publication worldwide.
