Congratulations to Dr Svetlana Carsten, the NNI Director, who has been awarded a prestigious award from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. The David Crystal prize is awarded annually by the Threlford Memorial Committee to an individual who has carried out significant work to foster the study of languages.
Dr Carsten who is affiliated with the Centre for Translation Studies, School of Modern Languages and Cultures and University of Leeds, was instrumental in setting up the internationally recognised interpreting programmes which are run by the Centre for Translation Studies.
The prize was presented by HRH, Prince Michael of Kent, at a ceremony hosted by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London on 20 November 2012.
